Racial Equity for Municipal Leaders, Session 2

This course will provide local leaders with an introductory overview of institutional and structural racism in the United States. The first session meets from 7:00 PM to 8:15 PM every Wednesday from May 8 to June 26. It is specifically designed for leaders who are shepherding racial equity work in their municipalities, including elected officials, DEI/racial equity officers, and local government staff. It will equip participants with a shared language for racial equity, provide an understanding of racial equity leadership behaviors, and position leaders to visualize a racially equitable municipality.

Participants will establish a Community of Practice and learn how to identify institutional bias in local government, their role in leading effectively through change management, the importance of solidarity, and policy areas to get started advancing racial equity.

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate of
participation.
